Under the Director of Governmental Affairs, the Student Advocacy Board (SAB) serves as the voice of NMSU students in Santa Fe during the legislative session. The board seeks to advocate for issues that are of particular importance to students. Past issues include the long-term solvency of the New Mexico Lottery Scholarship, capital outlay for campus projects, and faculty compensation. The board is made up of full time students from a diverse background and includes representation from all colleges at NMSU. Recruitment for the board is concluded early in the fall so applicants are encouraged to apply no later than the end of September.
